A herd of Austrian red-spotted cows, who the Inghirami family
affectionately refer to as "the girls", is raised
here in the wild, kept protected by a surrounding fence.
The "girls" raise their young together who are
fathered by a great snow white Chianine bull named Orio.
These cows wander freely looking for new pastures inside
the compound, finding shelter in the woods under the watchful
eye of the border collie that guides them and rounds them
up when it's dinner time. This is how the cycle repeats
itself, like it was done in the past. Goods are produced
based on the necessity of the livestock; those animals that
fertilize the fields, keep the underbrush in order, and keep
the countryside alive with movement.
The Inghirami family
has already realized much, but there are still more projects
in the works: beehives with busy bees to care for, school
visits to the farm, exhibits of old farm machinery, cantina
tours, the reopening of the stalls to welcome the thrill
of horse-back riding.
